Helius New Energy Co., Ltd. Successfully Selected for Qinghai's 2024 CSP Generation Demonstration (Pilot) Project

2024-11-13

Recently, the results of Qinghai’s 2024 CSP Generation Demonstration (Pilot) Project selection were announced, and Delingha 350MW CSP Project proposed by Helius New Energy Co., Ltd. successfully made the list.

The project will employ tower CSP technology, with a planned installed capacity of 350MW and a 14-hour molten salt energy storage system. Designed to meet the technical and performance requirements of large-capacity, low-cost CSP power generation, it is currently the largest tower CSP project in the world in terms of installed capacity, among completed, planned, and under-construction projects. Upon completion, the project will serve as an innovative benchmark for large-scale CSP energy storage and grid-peaking project. Construction is scheduled to break ground in 2025 and reach full capacity by 2027.

As a pioneer in the construction and operation of molten salt technology in China, Helius New Energy Co., Ltd. wholly owns two tower molten salt CSP projects in Delingha, Qinghai, with installed capacities of 10MW and 50MW. Among them, the 50MW CSP station is the world's first CSP and tower molten salt energy storage power station that achieve its full production targets, consistently reaching its capacity goals for two consecutive years.

The successful inclusion of Delingha 350MW CSP Project further emphasizes the role of CSP in ensuring energy security and providing flexibility in grid peaking. Upon completion, the project will strongly support the safe and stable operation of the local power grid, facilitate the integration of wind and solar energy into the grid, and contribute to Qinghai Province’s efforts to become a national leader in the clean energy industry.
